Has anyone had any luck with other brands besides the Foodsaver vacuum sealer, such as the Regal brand? The only difference I really noticed when I compared the two was that the Food Saver had a couple of extra options (speed, etc). Your input would be much appreciated!

I haven't used anything besides FoodSaver because I like the:
  • additional features such as manual seal (absolutely essential in my book), adjustable sealing times, add-on units such as canisters, marinating box, and
  • customer service, and
  • from observation, better construction
I have four different models and they all work very well.

I've tried two or three others, including a European restaurant/commercial model--HUGE!! Used in most industrial installations.

I still recommend the FoodSaver & especially the hand-held model for its convenience for personal chefs ...& especially the price!! Was down to $10 end of last year & I gave it to all of my relatives for Christmas. Any of the countertop models w/the features Pete/Pierre lists above are a good buy. Bests, lg
