Personal Chef Industry

Hello all. I'm just getting started with my PC business and trying to choose an affiliation between APPCA or PCN. Is there anyone out there who can speak freely about any significant differences you are aware of between the two organizations and/or their training packages? Will appreciate your candor.

If you go back through these archives and read entries for the last 6 or 8 months, not that many really, you will find all kinds of reasons why most professional personal chefs chose to affiliate with APPCA. Aside from the fact that we consistently train scads of new personal chefs every month we also set more standards for the industry and do more to improve the profession than anybody else in the industry.

Terrific question. Good for you for doing your homework. It is very important that you research all of your options in our now "thriving" Industry.

APPCA was the first and only organization to become "officially recognized" by the ACF, THE AMERICAN CULINARY FEDERATION! Thanks to the continual and daily efforts of our Executive Director, Chef Candy Wallace we also have established the Professional Certication for Personal Chefs in this industry! I am not certain as to the date and category of the last new certification permitted by the ACF or recognized. Certainly, it does not get any better than that, either!

In short, Chef Wallace, our founder, along with the other members who strived so hard since the founding of the original APCA, established and founded this Industry to the point where recognized professional organizations, such as the ACF have given us all significant and unparalelled credibility.

Could luck in your pursuit in our field. You can not do any better than signing up right here with the rest of our members who searched long and hard before making there own decisions regarding affiliations. I have been a member of the APPCA for 10 years now and previously researched and sought out the same information as you are now prior to making my own, "lifelong decision" comitment and permanent affiliation with the APPCA! I have never regretted it for one second either.
