Hi everyone,

Thank you all who have been posting here Smile
You have been incredibly helpful in making the big decision of starting a personal chef business.

Well, to intro myself- my name is Cindy and I live in beautiful western Mass, the Northampton area. I currently work as a software developer and am so ready for a change. Had enough of the games, stress, soul-draining work...

I've actually been thinking of personal cheffing for about a year, before I knew there was an "official term" for it. Here I thought I had an original idea, cooking dinner and leaving meals for busy people. I'm so happy to find all of you pc's out here in cyberland!

Has anyone had/have experience personal cheffing in a college area? Would grad students be a good target market, as well as the professors and administrators?

TIA,
Cindy

Yes, Cindy, all of the above. Aim first at where the money is--faculty & administrators.

A friend is working in WV very successfully--in the Morgantown (WVU) & FAirmont State College areas, both in a 20mi radius. Its a breeze. She promotes herself via e-mail using the faculty guides at the beginning of each semester, then posts her brochures on the various bulletin boards.

Look around you, you'll find a number of possible clients. Good Luck, lg

Dear Cindy,
I am very interested to hear of your progress. I am also marketing to a college community. I live in Claremont, California. We have seven colleges in our little town of 3500. So far, I have been contacted by many faculty members, but have yet to land a regular gig from any of them (some parties, though). Please post your stories of your, hopefully, success.

Thanks,
Linda Heilpern

Thanks Lou, using the faculty guides sounds like a great idea. And hearing about your WV friend is really encouraging.

Linda, I'll keep you posted on how it goes. Wow, 7 colleges! And I thought 5 colleges, where I live, was a lot.

Thank you both for your encouragement,
Cindy
