Hello All. Im just beginning to think about becoming a PC part-time. I've found answers to many of my questions though this fourm. Although there is one that I am wondering about. When do you charge the client? Is this typically done before or after the services are rendered? What works better for people, clearly charging for groceries and services or one flat rate per meal? Happy to be here, and hope to get soem feedback. Thanks!! Tony
Typically, fees are gathered up front, that is to insure the client that particular day as promised...same as housekeeping services & the like. You see, we use some of their money to actually purchase foods with. As far as one flat rate per meal, well, I have a minimum set of meals like a lot of personal chefs...only b/c one meal alone is not worth the time for us to put into. Most of us, choose a minimum of 3 meals. Shopping, travel time, preparation, etc etc, all comes into play.
Remember, our clients get more than just someone cooking... we save them time in this never ending busy world, allowing them to eat quality/healthy food, in the safety of their own homes...we are providing a healthy alternative to busy lifestyles....a quality of life, so to speak.
My suggestion is to be, do not ponder this. Either you want to do this, or not...b/c this industry is growing by the days, & it needs people that can & will service it WELL. BTW, in the past 10 yrs... I only see it being more so a requirement for many.
