Just a fun question for you pc's out there- what is your birth order in your families? Are you the oldest child, the middle, the youngest, or an only?

Firstborns are supposed to be the most successful at being independent and owning businesses. I thought it'd be interesting to see how that holds up in this industry!

Very interesting question. Latter borns are usually the "revolutionary," strike it on your own part of the family. Something like 90+ percent of the signers of the Constitution, leaders of revolutionary governments, scientific research breakthroughs, folks like Darwin, Copernicus, Napoleon, etc..were latter born children.

"Theory" being first borns are satisfied with the status quo (themselves) and the parental resources of time and $$ afforded to a single child. More siblings = less resources. Latter borns don't get the family business, farm etc..and go out in search of their niche, fame, and fortune. I am #4 of 5 sons.

If you are interested, a good book to get which describes this is "Born to Rebel: Birth Order, Family Dyanmics, and Creative Lives" by Frank Sulloway." Here's a link to one of the reviews:

I am the first born and there is a big age difference between my siblings and me. 9 years between my sister and me and 11 for my brother. In the past with other jobs, I have always been in the lead position, management, etc. So, hopefully doing this PC biz, will pan out! I know it will! Possitive thinking!

I am number 2 out of 4, but my older sister owns a very successful decorating business, so maybe entrepreneurship just trickled down the family tree.

I have five older sisters and one younger brother. (Yeah, pity him!) I would fit the "latter-born" theory. When I started this business, my second oldest sister said..."You're brave!"

However, reading this thread....anyone of any birth order can be a personal chef!!

Interesting! It must be because pc-ing thrives when you have good social skills for marketing yourself and creativity for the culinary arts(as I've heard, both qualities of a youngest), and the Type-A personality of a firstborn to run a successful business front. My husband the chef is a youngest, and I'm a middle, albeit an acting oldest since my older brother is 6.5 years older than me. I think we middle children can do it all!!

I was the youngest of two with a 15 year gap and then when my father remarried when I was ten, I became the next to last.

Dennis is second of 5--in between two sisters and then two younger brothers.

Oldest of three! I've always had the tendency to be the "leader" in a group, but not always the person who tries something first. I wait to see how it works out then find where I can best fit in and lead...
