I am a retiring firefighter, with 32 years on the job. I enjoy cooking and get a great deal of compliments from relatives and friends. Is 55 to old to get involved in the personal chef business?
I guess it depends on how you look at it. I'm now on the public dole (drawing my social security)and am 65. Am I too old, yea oftentimes I am at midnight after a 5 or 6 hour party...but I still manage to make it out the next day to cook some chunk of meat for some other client.
We actually had a member who was older than Jim...she went by "Gram". She loved it but was forced to give it up, due to some personal circumstances...but it was definitely not b/c of her age. She was one of the few that was fully booked up BEFORE she even got all her training materials.
If you are serious about getting into the business make sure when you join that you choose the option that includes the "The Business of Doing Business as a Personal Chef," seminar. That one step will take you further, faster than anything else you can do.
If you look at the schedule on the Home page you will find a number of them scheduled between now and the end of the year. The one closest to you would be in North Jersey in October. There will not be another one that close until the middle of next year.
