Hi everyone - just wanted to introduce myself and tell you just how IMPRESSED I am with APPCA! I'm Leslie and I live in Kansas City. I've been interested in becoming a Personal Chef for YEARS ... I even signed up with APPCA in the late 90's, but my interests varied, and here it is 2007 and find myself yearning for a career change (corporate world - ho-hum). If I could do what I love for a profession (which is cooking), I'd be the happiest chick on the planet!

I've got one question - what is not covered in Option B that I would miss out on by not attending a seminar? I'm weighing my options and think Option B is best for me, but don't want to miss out on anything if I don't attend a seminar (looking at Chicago in April).

Any insight would be greatly apprecaited!

Thanks~
Leslie

Hi Leslie & welcome!
I'm also fairly new and a career changer.
I would encourage you to attend the seminar in Chicago if you can. I ended up buying the dvd packet and then wondered if I should attend the San Diego conference last summer. I'm so glad I did! There's nothing like meeting your peers face to face and then helping one another along in this amazing journey.
be well,
Chef Simone

Welcome back Leslie. Attending a seminar can help jumpstart your personal chef business. It helps you think outside of the box, motivates, getting to know your peers, but most of all everything is gone over in depth. Your questions are answered right then & there, & your peers may ask questions that you had not thought to ask yet. That is not to say though, that you cannot ask questions here....as they will be answered too! Wink

Well Leslie, happiest chick on the planet!!

I think I'll stick with Twinkie though. It's one of the best names I've seen here in quite some time too.

I'm not hip anymore to the individual packages these day as I've been a member for nearly 10 years, so no need to worry any more.

I do suggest no matter which package you choose in taking a breather/trek to Chicago. I believe it is one of our strongest regions in the country with great people and extremely talented and knowlegeable Chefs to boot!

Yeah, they fix a World Series here and there but boy, they can certainly cook! lol

I know a number of them personally and love them all dearly! Greatest chefs and people, including our Chef of the year. "What's her face"!? lol

You'll really get a great experience whichever seminar you attended though. I strongly encourage that.

Best of luck, enjoy no more corporate BS and see you on the "Inside" soon. - John
