Anyone out there done business as a private chef? I just interviewed for a full time private chef (5 days-breakfast 2 days, dinner 5 and a bunch of events and parties during the year). I have only worked as a personal chef for the last year and this is a whole different ballgame-don't want to shoot to high or too low on the requested salary.....

Aletheab,

Pravite chefs with no experience start at 29,000. With experience and formal training you can make over 60,000 to 125,000. Benefits may consist of housing, health insurance, 401K,
2 weeks paid vacation, and traveling. This varies with every client.

The questions to ask are how many people will I be cooking for?
How often do you entertain? How many people?
Can you hire help to come in and help you with the work load at parties?
How many hours a week?
When are your days off?

Please keep in mind that the clients that are willing to pay better salaries are not always the easiest people to work for.

Good luck, Leticia
