WOW! I have found a home! After researching on the Internet for months and reviewing other associations and clubs, I have joined the APCA. The timely responses I received from Candy and Deb and Dennis and the generous amount of time spent on the phone with Candy meant a lot to me. Unlike other groups, she never attempted to "sell" me on anything other than her love of the Personal Chef Industry, and her total commitment to it and to the members of the APCA. I can hardly wait to receive my information and get started. StartUpPC

Welcome! Candy also impressed me with her candor and good humour. USE the boards--this is the best trade association I have used.

24-7 access is very helpful!

Gawsh, indeed, Girlchef! Playing with IP codes is your game, not ours. As far as we know the post is from a real person kinda like aspiringpc...why don't you just for once behave yourself and go and play nice with the other chefs? If you can't offer something of value on this Forum - go play elsewhere... besides - aren't you busy cooking for your movie crew and your own Forum? Apparently not busy enough. Be Good, Girlchef. We know you can do it if you try.

This is retarded!

I have worked in public service government and hospital jobs for my entire adult career and I have never encountered the pettiness I have since becoming a PC.

Past ordering our kits, very few of us have anything invested in the associations, per se, other than the networking and support we have from each other. Snide and snotty posts are not what I bring the page up to greet. This kind of mess is extremely unprofessional, and should not be tolerated. In the scheme of things, these rivalries are absolutely meaningless.

From what I gather, most of us are converting to this career from high stress, high pressure jobs, and these interruptions are annoying, not to mention childish.

Candy, why don't you just delete this person off the boards? I have only just joined and I am already sick of her.

Who are you talking about? Sharon as in Girlchef? She was kind enough to spend 45 minutes on the phone with me on Friday answering my questions and helping me set up a business plan. She even gave me the url to this site so that I could read through the archives. Can you imagine my surprise reading your post?

I am starting up my business in the Reading PA area. I doubt that I will join an association but I thank you all for the insight and information contained here and in the other sites.

I am (truly) glad to hear that she is as helpful as she is mischevious. The only dealings I have had with this have been third hand, through the boards. There is a whole history in the members-only discussion boards featuring the antics of this person. In fact I probably should have kept my fingers off the keyboard because it may not have even been the same person. But it sounded like it, and it was still a snotty thing to post.

I am just really tired of it, because like you I want to just do my business and learn learn learn. Maybe I'll even get to help people out along the way. But post like the ones above waste my time and energy.

I did sound ornery didn't I? eek!
