Hello Personal Chefs:


I am beginning to provide cooking classes and cooking for clients at their homes within San Francisco-San Jose, CA.

Do the chefs who provide the services outlined above require a business permit or just a DBA and file taxes as a sole owner? If a business permit is required: Do you need a business permit for each town?

EHi Lily...every state has it's own regulations regarding sole proprietors. It can also vary from county to county if you only need a DBA or if you will also need a business license/permit. I would suggest that you check with your local officials to see what the rule is.
