While I'm "waiting" for my PC business to take off, I decided to join Pampered Chef, and hold cooking shows to supplement my income. Does anyone else have a sideline business too (like Watkins, Tastefully Simple, etc)? If so, how does that fit with your PC business? Was too quiet in this folder, so I decided to start a new thread! lol
Good question! The answer is YES, many personal chefs have second and third income streams because they can. One of the wonderful things about owning and operating a personal chef business is that you set it up to satisfy your own personal requirements. That way, if you choose to offer cooking class dinner parties, cater events, teach nutritional or special diet program classes or write books you can, because you call the shots.
Life as a personal chef means that you control your own destiny, and you decide what you will do and when you will do it. I love it!
Best thing is that you can "Chef" as much or as little as you want. I'm still in the Navy so I limit my self to "practice" cook dates and weekends and a holiday here and there.
AND I'm taking a Nutritional Consultant class on the side.
We have several members whom are personal trainers, dieticians, & nutrionists...which just helps them "sell" not only that part of their business, but espeically the personal chef side.
Gina, in addition to being a PC, I am an adjunct faculty member at our community college (adult cooking classes), it's fun to interact with the students and keeps me on my toes. I don't make a ton of money (a five week class nets me almost as much as one regular cookdate) but I really enjoy it.
I work at Whole Foods full time while doing my PC business. It's a ton of work but well worth it. I'm trying to build a nice client base and then go part time at Whole Foods. The discounts there kick major butt.
