One service I thought of providing, being a former hospice nurse, was chef service to hospice patients and their families at discounted rates. It is such a hard time to go through and I know there is a need for people to help in many aspects of care. Plus I have contacts with several hospices in the areas who would be happy to refer them to me. What does everyone think about this idea?

Hi Gwyn

Many of us here have supported clients, friends and loved ones through oncological programs, some successful, some not, but being able to provide nourishment and support for those clients, friends and loved ones is how we show up in the world.

Many of our members are nutritionists and dieticians and medical care givers and chefs who have chosen to support their particular "patient" (client) base as personal chefs rather than health care providers.

It is not uncommon in this organization to encounter members with client bases that reflect a specific medical challenge or focus, so you will be right at home.

In the PRIVATE Members Forum we have 12 separate (topic specific) Forums, one of which is SPECIAL DIETS which is provided for members to be able to provide information and recipes in support of specific challenges and programs.

We're looking forward to working with you.
Candy

Thank you all for your feedback!

I spoke to my former nurse manager at the hospice I worked for and she said that she has had many people, patients and clients, who have requested to have someone come in and cook for them. She also said they are willing to pay what it takes and also feels that I should not discount, because I would be wearing myself thin. I am meeting with the nutritionist there tomorrow to discuss any details about how we might coordinate the menus of the patients with the service. This won't be the only area I will target, but there is a market for it.

Thanks again!
Gwyn
